I'm struggling with this one. A band that came to mind was Little Feat but that doesn't quite fit.

    hint:

hardcore punk band, formed in 1980

band name: opposite of major + a bomb or terrorist ______ was called in

i thought they had enough commercial success to post here, but maybe not?

True paleheads, who do an adequate egg hunt, just might be able to evens it out, depends if they can fugazi an answer to this riddle or not.

Well, I am quite pale, but due to my ethnicity.
I'm in the penalty box with my "Google Machine", (as my daughter refers to it)
and I "fugazied" the band (whom I am not familiar with), but no clue on the song... :|

I think I was able to do some research after your added clue and get the right answer. Using my get out of jail free card.

    I'll assume that's correct.

This wasn't a huge hit but was a great song. Don't over think it.

Kenny Loggins + Steve Perry = [song]

OK I verified the correctness via Wikipedia afterward...
    so my entry:

Band = "Desperate" late 70s Los Angeles punk band + Delilah's "Plain White" + letter that "sounds like" the ocean MINUS " 's"
Song = Monarch of minimal reign

Well, I doubt I'll do any better.
Desperate makes me think of the Adam Ant song and one of his other songs is "Butterfly" which is a monarch with a short reign??

Some clues...sorry was kept busy at work yesterday

For the band, each part is a letter..three letter band name

"Desperate" late 70s Los Angeles punk band is first letter
Delilah's "Plain White" is second letter
Letter that "sounds like" the ocean is third letter

As a bonus clue for band....lads from Swindon

Band = "Desperate" late 70s Los Angeles punk band + Delilah's "Plain White" + letter that "sounds like" the ocean
Song = Monarch of minimal reign

Sunnlighter..."X" is first letter of the band name (The band Exene Cervenka was in "X" had a single called "We're Desperate" circa 1977...)
