moving from the US to UK and need friends!

Hi! We are preparing to move to the UK towards the end of the year and I wanted to get a head start and get some friends that are in the UK! We are looking to move near the Doncaster area so any advice would be good to 
The hubby is a Brit from the south (southampton) so this will be a new area for him as well! Plus hes been here in the states for over 7 years so it will be diff for him, and a hell of a lot diff for me anyway, thanks in advance!!
