Does consuming Whey Protien promote weight loss?

Hey,
I've been hitting the gym with the goal of shedding 10 kilos and so far I've managed to lose 3 kilos. But I've missed out for past two weeks and would like to get back next week.
However, I've come across people telling that consuming whey protein powder does actually help weight loss, and if so, how does it do this?
Also, does consuming whey Protien have any particular side effects?
How should I plan my workout and consumption of whey?
What is better - whey isolate or whey powder?

My ultimate goal is to shed some kilos and at the same time, build a good physique, with good muscle mass as well.

    Why would not promote weightloss anymore than any other protein does. If you eat meat, you do not need to eat whey protein. Its just an expensive product for body builders that many dieters use because they cant' be arsed preparing proper food.

    While dairy isn't needed in the human diet, to say that whey doesn't build muscle is incorrect. The article mentioned nothing of whey protein, just information on milk and dairy.
    Articles are usually biased and cherry pick evidence to try to support their stance. Here's a PEER REVIEWED CLINICAL STUDY on whey protein:

    Or trying to consume more grams of protein is easier to drink than to eat and feel overly full all the time. And it's not that expensive. Most protein drinks are $1 or less a serving for 24 grams. Buy some meat for the same serving is easily over that cost. Not saying to live off shakes, but as a supplement, it's legit as a protein fill in.

    Whey is also for human consumption - weird, right?

    Any food can be used to have a 'lean muscular body' ... it always comes down to a caloric deficit.

    OP, whey protein does not promote weight loss. It's just a good relatively high in protein... it should only be used as a convenience food; always opt for whole foods rather than a powder.

    I use whey to bump up my protein % , It doesn't help you lose weight.

    As the previous posters wrote, it does not effect weight loss whatsoever, but they can help to higher the amount of protein you consume. I've always used them when I needed more protein. No, they don't have any side effect, the chocolate ones even taste good.
