Toning clothing and trainers???? do they work?

That person is talking about how many calories you ingest, not WHAT you eat. They dont work like they say, although the ones that are heavier shoes DO increase work and energy expenditure just by being heavier, like the MBT, but you could buy 2lb ankle weights for the same effect. MBT also do have a heavier foot cushioning and support against impact than average, this could have helped the people who report back pain reduction.
As for the percentages of food vs exercise...really dislike those, they are bad generalizations. For example, I'm losing weight this week, but my diet includes all the things people think are bad for weightloss: fried fish and chips, steaks, pizza, bacon several times, almost one burger/day, beer, ham, and more and I'm losing weight. Therefore I can conclude diet is 0%, exercise is 100% of weight loss...but thats also wrong, its a balance. If I could have done the miles of hiking and weight lifting every other day without eating so much this week I would have lost more (but put my body in starvation mode), and if I dieted and didnt exercise I would have lost nothing. Finding what your body burns and adjusting food and exercise to balance into a smooth sustainable weight loss is the key. What happened this week: exercise and food went way up, essentially neutralizing each other. And I'm not recommending my food this week for weightloss

Another vote for Reebok Easy Tone shoes. I buy Reeboks anyway because they are the best fit for my narrow, high-arch feet so I got a pair of the Easy Tone ones for my daily walk. Figured it might add something beneficial. And I can certainly feel it in my hamstrings after walking -- they must be working some extra muscles in there. But weight loss? Nah.
They've never caused any issues for me, and I have pre-existing knee problems. My knee does slightly better after a walk in the Easy Tones than one in regular runners. I also spend the rest of my day in 4" heels :bigsmile:0
