does it really harm to have a small pack of crisps once a week when going to the gym 3-4 times a week doing weight lifting?

I eat ice cream every night, even on days I haven't worked out at all. Sometimes ice cream and some other kind of chocolate treat. I haven't died yet.

So, no. If it fits your calorie goals and you want it, eat it.

My gym doesn't allow you to eat crisps when weight lifting - doesn't matter size packet. No food on the gym floor.

Hit your chosen calorie and macronutritional goals and it wouldn't matter if you ate the entire Walker's factory.

Look at your dietary intake in an overall manner, don't look at foods in isolation.
