Diabetes, working out and weight loss

This week has begun a new journey for me. I want (need) to strengthen, tone and loose weight. One of my motivations is simply my health. I became diabetic in 2010 after years of pre-diabetes factors in my life. I admit I took my meds as scheduled but did not make effort to educate myself on how to eat healthy and within a diabetic frame of mine. In late 2014 I was placed on a new med ikn early then on insulin with a few months. Is there anyone else who takes medications for diabetes?

Yes, I do--both pills & 2 types of insulin (fast-acting & slow-acting).
Pills: I take 850mg of Metformin, twice a day with food (which I swear does nothing for me but I'm not absolutely certain about that--yet).
Insulin(Levemir): slow-acting insulin that I take at night before bed (doesn't appear to help me much either & I've been on this one for about 2 years).
Insulin(Humalog): fast-acting insulin (started 3/1/2015) that I take before each meal & adjust the dosage based on what I'm eating and what my blood sugars were before and 2-hours after those meals (I log all my blood sugar measurements). The fast-acting insulin (Humalog) has been incredible and really got my blood sugars down from 250-300 mg/dL into a healthier range and the side-effect of that was a decreased appetite & way less cravings for sweets & starches (i.e. bread) which helped with my weight loss & also made it easier for me to make healthier food choices. Prior to that, the cravings I got when my blood sugars were above 140 mg/dL kept "kicking" me off my diet attempts & I'd gain all the weight I had lost right back!
Note: I should have been monitoring my before & after meal blood sugars for the last 10-15 years but I didn't, mainly because I just didn't like the idea of poking my fingers to get blood and I refused to do the insulin injections for years too due to not thinking I'd be able to give myself a shot. All those years of ignoring my diabetes has taken its toll on my health. This MyFitnessPal application has been quite helpful by helping me log (with calories, protein, fat, carbs & sugar) my food as well as my blood sugar measurements (i.e. in "Food Notes" in my Diary) so I can keep an eye on & learn how my blood sugars are affected by what & how much I eat. It's already (from 8-19-2015 to present) helped me to lower the dosage of both my insulin injections (fast-acting Humalog & slow-acting Levemir) & completely eliminated my fast-acting insulin (Humalog) injection at breakfast. I'm hoping that in a few months (maybe longer?) that I'd be able to eliminate all my insulin injections!0
