Will it work?

I need to eat around 1600cals a day to lose 1lb a week, that includes exercise calories. It's been working so far. But I always slip at weekends. So the question is:
If I eat 1400cals from Monday to Friday, will I be able to eat around 2000 on Saturday and Sunday? Net calories for a week would be the same, so in theory it should work. Has anyone been doing this?

    We eat out on weekends and cheat a little. Its still works for me. I do try to do a little extra excersice if I know Im going to do that though!
