Tea and coffee

Hi.
Bit puzzled as to why black coffee (unsweetened) counts as 5 calories - in any previous diet Ive done its counted as 'free'.
Also, can anyone advise me if tea and coffee count towards your water drinking?
Thanks.
Jo

It appears that coffee contains a touch of fat and protein, but the above site counts 2 cal per 1 8 oz cup.

Because there are actual calories in coffee. If you're counting calories (which we all do on MFP), then why on earth would something with calories in it be "free"?? Logically, that makes no sense. Think about it.

So don't log it. Bam. 0 calories. Only your body will know.

will drinking 2 calories really make a difference in your diet?

Only if you drink a ****-ton of it a day or are on a very low calorie diet. I wouldn't worry about it. Just don't load it down with 1/2 gallon of sugar and creamer and you're good to go.

Edit to add that you do want to log the sugar and creamer if you use a lot of it. If you drink 5 cups a day and use 40 calories worth of additives in each cup, that does add up
