Almost 50 and changing!!

Hi all,

I had that very familiar experience (at least I imagine it is!) of getting on the scale after months and months of ostrich behavior.

What I saw was a real wake up call! 248.5, 30 pounds up from 2 years ago when I got frustrated with a very long plateau on weight watchers.

At that time, thought "oh I can just exercise and continue to eat what I want."

Wrong!

So I'm all over the food tracking now, particularly sugar, as my sugar levels were on the high side last time I got the test.

Question for all of you: are trigger foods a real thing in your experience? I'm beginning to think they are for me. And I'm pretty sure what mine are.

Thoughts?

I'm on day 8 now, down 3 pounds (probably water weight but I'll take it!)

Start: 258.5
Current 245.5
Goal 190???

    Congratulations on your loss so far :)

    We've all had that 'wake up call' and as unpleasant as it seems at the time, you'll be thanking yourself for it a few months down the line. Your goal weight is more than achievable, you can do this!

    I don't think I have trigger foods. I like a wide variety in my diet, plus I have lots of favourite things. I sometimes get a craving for something, so I make plans to eat it by making room in my daily calorie limit. If that means more exercise, I will do it.

    Yesterday I had a (250 ml) Pepsi (and KFC) for the first time in 5 months, just because I had the urge, and I was doing a big day of walking. I left room for beer and bubbly and icecream later. :)

    I have this inkling that bingeing is just cravings ignored for too long. Deprivation is not good for anyone and leads to playing Big Catch-Up.

    19 kg lost and counting!
