Hi. My name is Christina and I am 35 years old. I have slowly but surely packed on a lot of excess weight since having kids over the past ten years. I have tried every diet imaginable. I have exercised to the point of ridiculousness and I gain more weight. I started a diet a week ago just to get on the scale today and see Inhave gained 6lbs!!! I am desperate to get the weight off at this point. I am afraid of sickness and just overall am disgusted with myself. I have never had so much trouble losing weight. I am looking to find some friends on MFP that maybe provide some input as to what I am doing wrong and just motivate me to keep trying. Please add me if you can help!

Hi. I know the feeling. I started my weight loss journey after having my daughter and it has been a long but good journey so far. I set myself reasonable mile stones and decided to loss 1 pound a week as I was more like to stick to my daily calorie allowance. The only reason I managed to get so far was by not depriving myself of anything. As long as I stuck to my calories I allowed myself some chocolate or whatever I fancied at the time. I plan my meals the evening before and prepare my lunches before going to bed this way I am unable to change things last minute. I also pre make all my dinners and freeze them this way the whole family get nice and healthy dinners and I don't have to stress whilst working and looking after little one.
I hope this will give you some motivation.
    I went from 17st 11 pounds to 12st 6 pounds.
Still have a way to go but I am getting there.

Hello. I understand how frustrating this can be. Get yourself a food scale and start out by learning to weigh all your foods and log them accurately.
If your not losing , your not eating at a deficit. Also weight fluctuations are normal, so track your weight trends over time and try not to get upset by fluctuations.

I concur with Thorsmom01 (great name!). Also (in my honest, flawed opinion) fad diets and exercise programs aren't always the best way to go. I think structure is important, but everyone I've ever known who kept their weight off imposed their own structure on food and exercise and stuck with it instead of just being "on a diet." Lifestyle changes are cliche at this point, but if the weight loss needs to be permanent, my suggestion is that you come up with your own reasonable plan for diet and exercise. Then, ruthlessly measure and log it until you know it works. I am climbing off the anti-fad-diet soapbox...now.
