Recently my mom came in from Guadalajara Mexico along with my cousins and aunts and uncles I let them know I was doing the diet thing and they don't quite get the concept of eating healthier.. Old school meets new school Mexican food is hard to resist

So many ways to change it up! for example replacing pork with chicken or turkey, I make a delish chicken Chile verde, Family didnt notice the difference, Bake instead of frying, mash dont refry the beans and use brown rice. Not quite as good but definitely can make everything Tasty! :yum:

Growing up with a combination Tex-Mex/American/Spanish cooking I've been pretty happy changing my families recipes to make them healthier. Lucky for me I cook better than most of my family, except my tia Nana. LOL!!

I've decided when familia visits I'll eat what I've always eating it a tradition and when I cook like some of you said I'll change it up , its something I already started doing like using ground turkey and my kids don't even notice ...

@carlos1221 I have that problem growing up in a black home too. I just portion what I eat. They've gotten used to me though.
