Elevated Heart Rate?

I run sprint intervals and cycle daily and always wear my HRM. Today I noticed that my heart rate was elevated throughout all of my workout.
Typically I top out at around 182 for my final sprint, but today I was hitting the high 170's for the mid-sprints and topped out at 188. In spin class I typically hover between 155 and 175, today I was between 170 and 180-something for the entire class after warm up. And while classes are all different, this one was with an instructor that I spin with all the time and his class wasn't really any different than usual. And these are the same sprints I did yesterday...I ended up burning an extra 100 calories over my typical day.
I felt fine, I didn't feel dizzy or over-exerted. I wouldn't have even really noticed if my HRM wasn't synced to the treadmill and bike. I just replaced the battery on the monitor about a month ago, typically lasts around 6 months.
Any thoughts? Just curious.

Maybe you need a new battery. Mine does that when the battery gets old.0

I considered that, just haven't ever experienced jumps in heart rate when the battery is running low. Thanks, will change the battery for sure.0

All sorts of potential reasons, hydration, tiredness, caffeine. Those differences aren't significant, and nothing to worry about. I'll hold 180bpm average for a 10K race, so wouldn't even consider them all that high.
I'd observe that you've just found out why an HRM isn't a good way to determine calories expended. It's very unlikely that you've burned an extra 100cals unless you covered more distance. Personally I'm about 100 cals per mile so that should give you an indicator of how much you may have burned if you did run/ spin a longer distance.

If its just one day or a few days i would not worry... Could be that you didn't get a full night of sleep or maybe something stressed you a bit more than normal. But if a pattern forms and this repeats then i would definitely try to seek what the cause is0
