Macronutrient goals - what's a good goal?

how do u know what a good goal is for macro nutrients? I set mine for 30% carbs, 20% fat and 50% protein.

    your macros are going to have more of an impact on performance than anything else...beyond that, just take a balanced approach...more specific fitness goals would shift your macros from there. for example, I do a lot of endurance work...i eat a good 50-60% carbs.

    If that's how you normally eat then continue. But it seems a bit high on protein to me. I set mine based on the formula from iifym, which is based on macro grams by body weight and not percentages.

    .8 to 1 grams of protein per lbs of body weight
    .35 to .45 grams of fat per lbs of body weight
    the reminding calories on carbs.

    Using these guidelines my macros break out to 45% C/25% P/30% F. Your would be different based on your weight and goals.
