Walking and recovery from

Hey guys,

I walk between 5 and 7 miles daily during my lunch break, and on my days off do maybe 20 miles on the bicycle. The past few weeks my legs have had an odd feeling, best I can describe it is a constant tiredness, a kind of rubbery feeling in the knee joint; with a little pain when I wake up, that goes away maybe after an hour or two. I figure I'm overdoing it, and should take a few rest days.

The bad thing is that I get a bit of stress on the job, so that walk is my sanctuary - to get away from it all - and I hate to give it up. Suggestions on what I can do in the meantime during my break (keeping in mind my lunch break is typically at 3am)?

Is there anything I can do to help with recovery? As in to get the most out of it, not just speed things up. Any specific foods that are good for the joints? Apparently I don't have enough google-fu to get good results other than adver-info.

Lots of ways to destress and re-center...... yoga or tai chi..... eating slowly & attentively..... shadowboxing..... strength training..... bicycling..... Just give your legs a break on your days off.

No magic foods, but eat reasonably healthy, and avoid too large of a calorie deficit. :+1:

If you're talking about a very specific pain in your knee, get it looked at by a doc or physiotherapist. What do you mean by a "rubbery" feeling, like loose or unstable?

Cherimoose, thanks. I know there's no "magic" food, but just always read that some are purportedly better than others for things like inflammation, etc. That same information usually comes from advertorial sites, however.

tomatoey... that was the best I could describe it. They don't feel unstable, I can walk perfectly fine (in fact no pain when I do other than the described dull, constantly tired sensation). It feels a little loose, but not overly so. Range of motion and control are I'd say normal. Maybe just movement within the range seems freer lately than it did before, considering the other sensations. A doctor is definitely in my near future, when I can get to one, just figured I'd ask about it while I was at work.
