I have about 10lbs to go until i am a healthy weight and now want to concentrate on toning. I have purchased some dumbbells and would like to tone my hips and waist but a all over dumbbell workout would be good.
Could anyone recommend a routine i could do several times a week.
Many thanks

what most people call "toning" is a visual effect caused by reduction of the fat over and within the muscles. Losing weight will cause the muscles to become more visible. However if your muscles are fairly unused, they will not have the volume to really show up to their best.
It sounds like you're trying to reduce more fat over the hips and waist, which can't really be targetted. You just need to continue as you've been and lose the remaining fat until you reach your desired weight.
You can strengthen your core using bodyweight exercises (crunches, planks, side planks, etc).
You want to be using heavy weights if you do some strength training. I'm not sure what dumbbells you bought, but if they're plastic and brightly coloured, they're probably not of much use for what you probably want to accomplish.0 -
Someone suggested this site on here and it's pretty good: https://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/dumbbell-only-home-or-gym-fullbody-workout.html
