Fitness while recovering from minor surgery

Hello!

I'm scheduled to have very minor abdominal surgery right before Thanksgiving (it's lady stuff). I don't have my pre-op appointment until November 9th but my understanding is that my activity restriction will only last for about a week. I have also read some stories about women who feel that while you can perform most activities right after that first week they find that it is more like 4-6 weeks until they really start feeling "normal" again.

So in preparing myself for this, what kinds of activities would you recommend as I recover? There are some obvious choices (walking) but I suppose I'm wondering if anyone has personal experiences about fitness during recovery. I feel that being lightly active will help my recovery. I know that I'm only talking about a week here of real restriction, but I like to plan ahead. I don't want any excuses to get off-track.

Thanks in advance.

Wait till you are cleared by a doc. Most doctors know of or recommended a CPT you may want to work with to get started on the right foot.
