Fitbit Trainer Analysis

Hi,

So I am doing the free trial of the Fitbit Trainer, and it says that I should be lightly active, but I have a desk job, so... a little confused. I do walk around the parking lot on my breaks, so by the time I leave, I have just under, at, or just over 5,000 steps. I, for the most part, will always hit a minimum of 10,000 steps 4 days a week, but usually over. Some days I don't hit it because I don't go on my walks. Should I reset my level from sedentary to lightly active?

If you have MFP and Fitbit synced, it should not matter. MFP will adjust your daily calories based on actual activity/calories burned according to Fitbit.

The only difference will be whether you start w/ more calories or get more of an adjustment.

If I say I'm sedentary I might see a 500 adjustment. If I say I'm lightly active, it might be only 200 but I'd start the day w/ 300 more calories.

Okay, thanks! It just confused me, because I only walk around for the extra steps/cals/exercise

I would leave it at sedentary, simply because I like to see an adjustment from FB for exercise cals. I have a desk job and walk 7-10K most days. Although I rarely eat back exercise cals, I like to them on my ticker because it makes me feel like progress. If you set for lightly active, you'll get few exercise cals and maybe some negatives on days you move less. Try the settings both ways and see which you prefer. In the long run I don't think it makes a calorie's worth of diff.
