plateau already?

Hi all,

I have been doing a 500 calorie deficit for the last 4 weeks now. This is my second time around trying to use MFP to lose weight and similar to last time I have had really good results early (I assume due to being heavier the early gains come easy). I have lost 6kgs in the first 3 weeks. I have been using scales and been as accurate as I can and think I am not going under my goal as set by MFP.

However over week four I have lost no weight despite doing nothing different. I experienced issues last time I was using MFP where I plateaued, however this came about after I was a lot further along towards my goal.

Is this just a bad week possibly? If it is a plateau, then what can I do to get through it? Given that I was ahead of my goal until this week and losing more than I hoped I am confused how I can now have stopped. I expected to slow down to about 1kg a week soon enough and even slower as I approach my goal weight but staying the same this early on is a worry to me.

Thanks for your help.

One week is with no weight loss is completely normal.

It's not a plateau until you go several weeks or maybe a month or two.

Weight loss is not linear. You will not consistently lose the same amount of weight each week or each day or every other day or whatever. Sometimes you stay the same, sometimes you might even gain a little bit, but overall, you lose. Be patient.

BTW - 6 kg in 3 weeks is really fast and was, quite possibly, mostly water weight. Now you might be settling in to a slower, steadier pace.

I've been in a deficit for 4-5 weeks and have barely lost a pound and I'm not worried yet (annoyed maybe). Just keep it up. As long as you are 100% sure you're in a deficit, it'll come off.

Not a plateau. There will be weeks when you do not loose weight. In the very beginning water weight and fluctuations. Changes in diet, sodium, etc..

Body needs time to adjust to dietary changes whether it is number of calories, types of food, etc..

    Patience is your friend..
