Military Spouses

It's hard to make long lasting friends when you're constantly moving, but we're thinking Fort Carson is probably a good spot to retire from should the Army allow. Wondering if there are any other spouses that are stationed there as well that want to join for early morning workout sessions. I just recently got back into the swing of things and am not the most fit person but that's what I'm aiming for. I don't necessarily have a weight in mind more like a body type. I lost 80 pounds last year and 170 total pounds over the course of the last 5 and have recently gained 20 of it back.

I'm ready to get that weight back off!
Also it's nice to have friends who also have a spouse in the military. Some people just don't get the lifestyle difference.

We don't live there anymore, but Ft. Carson is where my husband and I started out, ten years ago. 3/61 CAV. Now he's a recruiter and we live out in SD, (because he didn't want to deploy after we had our daughter,) but Carson was a nice base with a good community around it. If you don't mind that I'm not there anymore, you're welcome to add me. If nothing else I remember how it was, being married to a deployable soldier and living in a military community.0

I will absolutely add you even support from afar is always helpful. I've yet to be through a deployment and honestly am very new to the whole military lifestyle so it would be nice to have someone seasoned to talk to about it. My fiancé is 10th division special ops and will be going to selection next October so he's training much more vigorously than I am. I do love it here I've met nothing but wonderful people and I've been to a few gyms on base unfortunately I don't see many women there that aren't actually in the army. Maybe I'm going at the wrong time, lol. How are you liking it out in SD? I have a good friend that just left there for Georgia.0

I never actually used the gyms on base, to be honest. While we were stationed there I trained in TKD at US Taekwondo Center, down on Academy, so I got my workouts in that way. All the soldiers in the base gym intimidated me back in those days. It wouldn't bother me NOW, but back then I didn't know the first thing about gym equipment and was too shy to ask. I'll tell you one thing, though - the lack of freaking OXYGEN in Colorado kept me in the best shape of my life. Even walking to the mailbox was a chore for the first few months, and I wasn't in bad shape at all! lol.
It's nice in SD. There are a lot of things I like about being back in the Civilian community, but there are things I really miss about being near a base. Ft. Carson's doctors and health care are fantastic, for example. One of the best I've ever been to. And the way the whole city just understands what military life is like. Out here, Dan wears his uniform and people think something scary is happening, haha.
Are you new to Colorado? I can give you all sorts of interesting things to see and do.0 -
I moved here last December so I am still fairly new. I absolutely love it here! The view walking out of my house is amazing. Nothing like the mountains. I've done a few things like Manitou incline and garden of the gods. I've been to lookout point and I learned how to snowboard when we got here so I did get to go to some pretty nifty resorts here. I'd like to find some mom and pop shops around fountain which is where we're living since it seems to be closest to bast.0

The best little shopping town is Old Colorado Springs. At the end of each summer they have a street fair - it's probably over now, but it's worth keeping in mind. But that was my favorite little place to walk around.0
