Attitude and Staying Positive

My story is a sad one. I was overweight for ages, then about 7 years ago I decided to change everything, and I did! I lost 96 lbs and was in phenomenal shape. I was a regular for lifting weights, could do 60 REAL push ups, etc, etc. Then, I got a lower back injury. Then, I had to have surgery for some other issue. Then I met a guy! Then I started eating like him, and it wasn't good. Fast forward to now. I haven't worked out in years. I've become the literal couch potato. I put all my weight back on.

So here I am, 3 weeks into a new lifestyle change - with hubby fully on board (yay! this was necessary as he is home before me and does most of the cooking). I have just signed up for a gym membership, and started to work out. And WOAH! I am so out of shape it's pathetic. Like, I did 5 squats 2 days ago (no weights) and I can barely stand up. Going up and down stairs is painful. I started thinking "maybe I should just give up. I'm too far gone".

But NO!! I will not give up! I look on the success stories board and I KNOW I can get better. This is where and when attitude makes all the difference! For every day you get to the gym, and even do one thing, give yourself credit! My issue is that I remember myself doing all those awesome strong things, and now I feel weak and useless. But I can't expect to start out now where I left off then. We must give ourselves the time to improve. We must encourage *ourselves* in making those little changes that lead to the big changes. It may take a long time to get from point A to point B, but WE WILL DO IT!

Stay positive! Be kind to yourself! Give yourself credit for EVERY change and EVERY effort!

*gets off soap box*

Good for you! This is also the second time around for me but "only" 25 pounds and"only" 6 months no exercising. I almost died on my first workout. I was shocked. It took me almost 10 weeks to start feeling stronger all over.

Hang in there and I know you can do this. You'll have a great success story about having to lose 100# not once, but twice, and the difficulties of maintaining one of these years. No rush!
