Hi, you will lose, if you have a calorie deficit, i.e. you expend more energy and/or eat less food that what your body needs to survive then you will lose weight, just at a slightly lower rate. Do what feels comfortable with you, most important when you start that you track everything, just try doing that for a few weeks and you'll be surprised how your eating habits may change. I'm sure someone else will post about TDEE and daily calorie goals/expenditure, but the basic science of calories in/out works. best of luck.

Your TDEE at sedentary is 1979 calories per day, you can lose around .8lb per week eating 1583 calories per day. So yes, you will lose weight at 1400

You will, I am about the same height (158 cm) and unfortunately maintain at 1590 kcals. I aim between 1300 kcal and 1450 kcals and about a month away from BMI 24! at 1200 kcals, I kept quitting, and now that I Allow myself more, some days I end up eating only 1200 kcals anyway.

Yes, You'll lose if you are still eating at a calorie deficit :)

1200 is the base number MFP sets for you. You 'earn' more calories through exercise etc!
