Favorite anti-crave foods for someone surrounded by sweets?

I need help! I started working in a bakery this summer, and I am surrounded by delicious sweets 8+ hours a day, six days a week. I never totally binge on the sweets, but I am pretty bad about taking a small nibble here and there... and after eight hours it begins to add up. It just smells so good, and it's almost impossible to resist when I'm hungry! I usually don't exceed 1400 calories a day, but I believe the sweets are holding my weight loss back nevertheless (suprise, huh?). I'm not the only one, either. I don't have a single coworker that didn't gain at least 10 pounds when they started. Woe are the bakers.
So, what are you choice foods to nibble on when you are having sugar cravings? So far I have found that a green-oolong-mint tea mix is fantastic for sipping when boredom eating is a temptation, but I'd like to have something to chew on here and there when I'm actually hungry!

Chew gum! You can't sample with gum in your mouth.0

Try taking peppermint oil capsules. If you're anything like me they will repeat on you no end, and eating stops being appealing!0

Agree. Chew gum.0

Fresh fruit. Pineapple and cherries are my favorite, they are sweet and really satisfy my cravings for something sweet.0

Fresh fruit, definitely helps. Something that has worked for both my mother and I for sweet cravings is to cut up an apple and mix in vanilla extract and cinnamon. Its healthy, and usually helps.0

I totally feel your pain. I have worked as a baker for 30 years and I have always heard never trust a skinny baker.lol.Chewing gum does work, but I'm the end you just have to tell yourself, nothing tastes as good as thin feels!!!0

I am new to my fitness pal and appreciated your tip. I am a chocoholic and also foodie. I always feel though I need something sweet after I finish a meal. I will try your suggestions.0

1/4-1/2 C Greek vanilla or strawberry yogurt, with some shaved bakers chocolate on top. Gives me the protein, little bit of sweet and my chocolate.0

I like to take the Aero chocolate mousse or the Ski Strawberry mousse and freeze them. They both come in under 100kcal and freeze nicely so you feel like you're having a strawberry or chocolate icecream. As they're already portioned out in the yogurt pots you also don't need to worry that you're going over. Feel like I'm having dessert every time I have one0

Strong minty gum!0

Freeze grapes! They get sweeter (in my opinion) and are like little bursts of delicious. I put them in the freezer at my job and grab some during the day from my lunch box.
I also mix fruit preserves in to fat free vanilla yogurt with protein powder. When I'm full, I don't reach for the sweets as easily.0
