Just want a rant

I know...its totally my fault. Not much I can do about it now. I get to see my nutritionist in a week and I don't know what she is going to say. I'm supposed to be losing weight for health reasons, and I've been under so much stress for the past 5 weeks and no exercise (trying to buy a house!!) since my last appointment that I started stress eating. I had been doing well until that point and I didn't even realize I was doing it until i started really logging all my stuff into mfp a couple weeks ago and went "Whoa!" And I've gained 2lbs. I supposed its 2lbs is not so bad but now I can really feel it affecting my condition and I'm just really down about it today. I've been trying to rein in the overeating all week and I'm still going over. And I was going to start exercising now that most of the work on the house is done and people are not in and out so much, but now i'm sick with the kids cold and it just feels like i can't win this month.
I know I'll get back on track as soon as i can smooth this stress out and get some good sleep and back to our normally hectic lives but...yea....just ranting it out and maybe I don't really know what to ask for suggestions. I'm a full time working mom of 2 toddlers, up at 5am home at 5:30, dinner in and playtime, then eat dinner and baths, then bed time basically. For food, I was doing really well, and now I know its the stress and not sleeping because of stress...I'm eating larger portions again and heading to the kitchen just hunting for food. Sometimes I am successful and tell myself to cut it out and go find something else to do, but I'm still ending up over cals. Reminding myself I'm a work in progress is helping my mood a bit but today is a downer after weighing in.

Warm up a big cup of chicken broth and sit an sip slowly. This is my go to when I have a cold. The warm liquid helps clear your nose and unfog your brain. You have made the first step by logging and holding yourself responsible. You can do this. I hope the rant helped ease some of the stress and tension. Feel better0

Thanks. Yes I think it will be a soup and tea kind of weekend. For my husband as well, he just informed me he also has the cold, lol.0

Maybe schedule time for yourself? You need some down time, even if it's just an hour of reading quietly every day. With so much going on, you might benefit from saying 'you know, this hour is dedicated to me, so everyone leave me alone!' if you can. Taking that time for yourself can help relieve stress, and if you schedule it so you know it's coming up, it'll be a little easier to deal with new stress.
And while I can't give advice about balancing time with toddlers, I can totally sympathize with house hunting! We didn't have to actually hunt for our new house, but selling the old one became a nightmare of fixing things and redoing things and then moving out of it and trying to keep an eye on it while living in an apartment. Yeah, I put on weight during that time myself!0 -

I have a cold, too, after a weekend at Disneyland where I gained a few pounds. I really, really want to get out for a run but I can't and with a race coming in a few weeks I'm getting antsy. In other words, I can really empathize with what you're feeling.
Perhaps you could simply try cutting down your portion sizes at meals. I find that 5-6 small meals per day works well for me when I want to stress eat. I'm eating more often, just less, and that helps me stay within my calories.0 -
When I start to stress eat, I have to tell myself 2 things:
1. stress will always be there, if not presently, it's right around the corner
2. At least I dont have the stress of having to lose weight, and I don't want that added stress.
As someone mentioned above, hot soup. For some reason, hot tea, soup, showers, neck wraps...warm things are comforting to me. So at night when I want to eat out of stress or boredom, I grab one of these things, then I go to bed!0 -
Stress often makes me overeat. It's hard but try to get into a routine. Getting into a routine has helped me to stop binge eating. I often tend to binge when I'm bored, stressed and depressed. It must be hard and stressful moving house and having two young kids but you don't have to let the stress get the better of you. Tell yourself how important losing weight is for you. It takes time but be patient and celebrate the small things such as losing a pound or having a smaller portion. Believe in yourself! Also get rid of any foods that make you overeat and fill the house with healthy foods. You can do it! Tomorrow is a new day! Be positive and see losing weight as a positive challenge not something which is a punishment.0
