Weight loss for an IBS patient

Hello all, I am a 27 yr old man with the medical condition of IBS since last 2 years. I have gained a fair amount of fat. Is there anyone who can share with me ways to lose weight while keeping my IBS in control.

Count calories and avoid triggers. its better than trying to adapt a different diet to deal with triggers.

    This.

I have suffered with IBS in many forms for over 40 years, and cannot eat most vegetables - certainly not any leafy green ones, so I can't have salads, which lots of people losing weight rely on to keep their calories low. I am eating healthier food since starting MFP, including lots of baked chicken, sandwiches for lunch with avocado and tomato, and greek yogurt, Fiber One cereal, and Thomas's English Muffins for breakfast. I work in treats as I want them, adjusting my calories accordingly, so I still eat things I like, within my calorie allotment for the day. I try not to aggravate the IBS, although mine seems to really have no rhyme or reason - it happens anyway, even with avoiding known trigger foods. I have lost 51 pounds as of today, 30 of those since starting MFP in mid-April.

    You can do it!

I have IBS and in the past year have lost 85lbs started out over 300lbs. Since IBS basically means they have no idea what is causing it, ad just lump it in some generic group. Have you seen a gastroenterologist? Have you tried a low-FODMAP diet? Are you taking probiotics (I take VSL#3)? in the end it's all about eating better, and staying away from foods that trigger your IBS. Good luck on your journey.
