No carbs after lunch?

They mean complex carbs, sweet potatoes, oatmeal, quinioa, brown rice, veggie carbs are ok.
Yes this...there is a program called simply for life that suggests not eating any carb after 5 or 6pm (can't remember which) as carbs if not burned off will have a greater chance of being stored as fat. There are other studies out there as well but not going to get into that.
I am careful with my carbs to be honest...I eat very few but I am also 80/20 paleo and most of the carbs i eat are complex. If I do eat carbs it's before 2pm and that includes my fruit. But if I want an apple at night it is not a hard and fast rule either.
I say if you want to try something like this do it..but be prepared if you eliminate carbs (except fruit and veggies but no squash etc) you will be cranky for a couple of days and unless you fill up with protein you will be hungry...0 -
... There aren't any REAL studies citing such. Any type of carb is ok.
Also, not do be a jerk.... but you're not eating a paleo diet. I don't think they have Dannon Activia, or Pizza from the pizza tree.0 -
The only reason I would cut down on carbs after lunch is if they gave me digestion issues like bloating. Otherwise, eat on.
I agree. i don't eat carbs after 5 because they make me bloat and retain water. For those that don't suffer from that, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. Even though you metabolize slower throughout the day: the slowest at night and when you're sleep. So when you eat a lot of carbs at night, you won't burn through them as quickly like if you ate them in the morning. But it all does come down to you have to burn more than you consume. Do what makes you feel comfortable!
Carbs also cause me to bloat and retain water, i stopped caring cause I know it doesn't mean I am getting fatter, it also doesn't mean my fat stores aren't getting smaller
This me. I have a sensitivity to carbs due to some medical issues and puff out like blowfish with carbs at ANY time of day. They aren't unhealthy and I am not gaining any real weight so I just make sure to only eat them if I am not trying to look cute/presentable (or simply not pregnant!) for something Too yummy to give up. Luckily all I really eat are veggies and grains and OCCASIONAL bread (My parents overkilled bread and pasta as a child lol.) I also don't start eating until4:00-5:00pm, so really I'd be screwed if I tried to give them up late in the day
It is not carbs directly, but carbs (and fiber) already have that natural bloating effect and it just kind of exaggerates the issue. I don't blame the carbs, just a less than awesome GI tract lol0 -

I think many people get bloated. we all do. I do especially. I don't look as good as my profile pic on the normal level due to normalizing my carb intake. in the bodybuilding world I look a lot better. I would rather look leaner0 -

The problem is actual swelling of my large intestine. The doctors are still trying to figure what the cause is. I already have swelling, so by adding carb bloat it is like a double whammy. Lol. Terribly excited for my colonoscopy on July 5th (NOT), no food for me this 4th of July :sad:0 -
