How long is hummus good for after the sell by date? Do sell by dates annoy the heck out of other people?

I've had hummus nearly 3 weeks after the date!! I remember because I had a terrible stomach flu that week!!0

Hummus lasts for so long! I always eat it after its sell-by date
You can never be certain what is a safe amount of time though because it depends on so many things like the brand/your fridge so just always be cautious.

Sell by dates are stupid, they don't help the consumer actually know when it's safe. I end up just treating them like they're best before dates. Grocery stores aren't allowed to sell anything past a best before date... and they aren't allowed to sell past a sell by date. Logically to me they must then mean the same thing.0

otherwise test it. open it, smell it, look at it in light, even give it a good taste.
un opened, i would go for it if passes the test.
