May I ask how your diagnosis was made at this age? I was diagnosed at 20, could have probably been diagnosed earlier but was told that because of very common hormone fluctuations during puberty, it is not safe to diagnose PCOS in teens, as the problem often resolves itself in a few years.
Anyway, my diagnosis was 20 years ago, and it has not affected my life too much. As long as I maintain into the lower part of healthy BMI and regulalry exercise, I have few symptoms, the basic one being excessive facial and body hair. I did have some fertility problems, which were finally resolved with being extra careful with lifestyle changes.
    Good luck.

My friend has it. She has put on a lot of weight, but she eats a lot and heaps of the wrong things. Last time I hung out with her, she was able to run circles around me. She was a lot bigger than me but had a lot more energy and fitness.

I hope you can find the answers you need. It must be tough :(

    Hi.
My periods completely stopped for a year. As it is usual in beginning, i was not given any medication and was only asked to wait. I was so young, that i did not even know what was happening to me. At 14, still no periods, really ugly, thick and long hair started appearing on my face. This actually worried my mom badly and she took me to doc. That was the point where i was put on contraceptives for the first time. This was the most aggravating thing ever happened. I stopped taking it on my own for a year.

Finally when i reached 17, i studied this disease thoroughly and understood it's ought to be treated. I went to doctor again and she gave me metformin due to high glucose levels. Honestly, doctors were more annoying than medicines. Every doc i went to, was investigating Anderogen levels and glucose levels. I mean, ok, it's good, but they are constantly high and not being affected at all with medicine now what? they literally had no answer.

In March 2015 I stopped eating every single medicine, it made me sick felt like i was dying or something. I made a pledge to myself that no matter what am gonna beat *kitten* out of these cysts. I weighed 167lbs in March. I started going to gym. I would go every day for 45-50mins. Even on days when my mood was completely off, i would go for at least 20 mins. I did not starve myself, but changed ingredients on my plate. I shifted to whole meals, fresh fruits and veggies. Now i weigh 130lbs. Finally, a month ago, i had one of the best doc, she checked for prolactin levels, which were high, and prescribed dopergin, folic acid supplement and metformin. She totally agreed the fact that contraceptives had not given. It never felt better ever since i chose to live healthy.

Its like, with pcos, you are forced to live healthy and cant not afford unhealthy habits on all days but, yes, some days are cheat day

Not unless you remove them. And you still will be more likely to have more facial hair than the average woman.
