Is this normal soreness from elliptical machine?

I have been doing elliptical machine 20 min's a day and treadmill 30-60 min's 3 or 4 days a week for the last month or so. Only recently I have started using any sort of resistance on the elliptical. I just do level 5 on one machine and 15 on the other which seem to be similar. It's just enough to feel a little bit of resistance compared to at 0. So the last couple times I've exercised I've notice the muscles around my hips I guess(?) are pretty sore when I'm exercising and whenever I move. It's ok, just noticeably sore. Is this normal from using that machine? And am I supposed to keep doing it through the soreness or am I supposed to wait and let my muscles heal when they feel sore?

I'm oftrn slightly sore somewhere on my body. Tightness maybe or sometimes the muscles feel full.
I also have an elliptical at home and use it often.
At first it made me feel a bit sore at the weakest link in my leg muscle group. A little soreness is fine and often just walking helps legs feel better.
A pain or sudden sharp onset is more characteristic of an unjury.
If in doubt rest it a couple days and eat 200 calories less.
This is a long haul type thing so 2 days wont matter
Best wishes on a quick return to full strength.0 -
That soreness sounds familiar. You are starting to really engage muscles that you didnt before. Do some hip flexor stretches - http://www.fitbodyhq.com/fitness/12-great-stretches-for-tight-hip-flexors/0

You are running/jogging on a treadmill 3 to 4 times a week and using the ellipitcal 20 a mins everyday?
I run outdoors every day now and use the elliptical sometimes now usually when the weather is bad, and I use it for warmup and cool downs on lifting days. I will go backing to using it more in the winter when it is too cold for outdoor running.
However, I started out just using the elliptical at 20 minutes (every other day when I started exercising) in the beginning for about 2 months and never suffered any serious soreness, only some fatigue and a small amount of discomfort just because I exercised. I do not have any joint problems or need the elliptical for easing up on muscle and joints. This is considered a low impact exercise. Running and jogging puts pounding on your muscles and joints where the elliptical really is low impact...
If you are running/jogging on treadmill and not having any issues on that but you are having issues using the elliptical, this sounds suspect. In my mind it would be the other way around. Just my thoughts this early in the morning..

gia the key factor is the resistance on the elliptical. when you crank it up it puts a load on the muscles with a smaller impact on the bones. Running does both.0
