I'm allergic to all nuts and all fish -- what can I eat as a replacement?

What you have been, only in a caloric deficit.

What you currently use for your protein, and the rest of your diet, just less.

Use this website/ap and a food scale to track calories and eat less than you were eating.

Eat what you like, just less of it. Stay close to the calorie goal MFP gives you.

It means eat what you have always eaten, only less.

Eat everything but what makes you allergic in a calorie deficit and you will lose weight.

Gotcha and thanks to all. Was hoping to get "eat X as a replacement for nuts or Y as a replacement for fish", but I understand -- eat calorically less of whatever I've been eating.

    Appreciate your guidance...

    Welcome to MFP forums @Brave596.

Read up on the causes of a leaky gut to see if that may apply. Some think that is why we may have a reaction to certain foods.

Nuts seem to cause many people issues. While both fish and nuts are typically a great source for protein and fats there are many other sources. Are you OK with cheese and like dairy products?

Do you mean in recipes? When I see nuts, I generally think "raisins" and they frequently make a fine replacement. Sometimes I'll use sesame seeds, wheat germ, oats and/or thyme. Sometimes, I have to just skip the recipe. Depends.

Fish is easy because I skip all the recipes except tuna. I suspect that sometimes you could sub in chicken, but there are ten million recipes for chicken, so no reason to look at the fishy ones.

If you're talking nutritionally, you just have to create a diet that doesn't include those things. It can be done. It would probably be easier, variety-wise, to get more low-cal and healthy protein in if you weren't allergic to it, but you are. Play the hand you're dealt. You can do it. :)

I'm not very familiar with "leaky gut" ... but an allergic reaction is caused by an overreaction of histamines by the immune system. It can be pretty scary, and often doesn't require the allergen even reaching the stomach. It's not something I would suggest experimenting with on your own (without medical guidance).

OP, you can get plenty of protein and healthy fats (the 2 big benefits of nuts and fish) from other sources: other meats are a good source of protein, you can get many of the omega's from flax seed and olive oil, as well as avocado and other plant-based foods. A wide variety of fruits and vegetables will be your friend. (I do like the suggestions of seeds, like sesame and maybe even sunflower!)

Thank you. Yes, I have allergic reactions to the smell of peanuts or fish or some seeds, like sesame-- my throat closes or hives on my body. It's weird cause I can't eat salmon, crab, lobster or fresh tuna...but I eat canned/pouched tunafish daily.

I like most vegetables, avocado and olivr oil. I've heard great things about almonds and other nuts so I guess I was looking for a similar, snack alternative...
