I've been hearing reports that kale disrupts normal thyroid function. As someone who has had significant issues with the thyroid, I'm now concerned about my intake of this otherwise healthy food.
Thoughts?

I have heard that, but only from fad sites and promoters of fad diets. I've not seen any science on this fact other than a dated textbook article from the 70's... but if anyone has any studies to share I'd be interested in reading them as thyroid issues come up for clients all of the time.

It is not the only vegetable that theoretically can affect your thyroid. But you need to eat A LOT of these foods daily for your thyroid to be affected. So, if you plan to eat kale as main ingredient of breakfast, lunch and dinner, this is probably not a great idea. Although I suspect that armfuls of kale daily would have you worrying about constant diarrhea long before your thyroid suffered...

This. Much the same as spinach can have an anabolic effect, if you eat 10 pounds a day. Your skin would go green before you could see the result. Maybe that is where the idea of the hulk came from.....

True with the same caveat as reported above. In addition it is raw kale in large quantities not the cooked kale that can be troublesome.
