Body Pump

Does anyone do the Beachbody Body Pump DVD program? I'm going to be starting it (I've done it on and off but never consistently) this week as an introduction to weight training. Is it a good place to start? I know it doesn't isolate body parts to days, such as "leg day", "chest day", etc., but I'm hoping it's still a success. Any feedback from those who have used this program?

I take BodyPump in classes but not using the DVDs. I do the class anywhere from two to four times a week and like my results. It's the only form of resistance training I do. From what I understand, heavier weights would be much more effective much faster, but this has been working for me, plus the classes are a lot of fun

Actually, doing a full body weight training is much more effective for a beginner than doing a body split.
Also, it is more cardio than weight training, but nevertheless a great place to start and get comfortable with weight training.
Just make sure you don't do it every day but take rest days so your muscles can recover, and keep on increasing the weights so it consistently gets heavier.

Other than it is fun, I can't really say anything about the effects it has had on my body. Have not done it consistently enough for long enough.
So no you won't train your muscles as you would on a regular strength program, but you will be working those muscles hard and feeling them afterwards.
