    Try the 5:2 diet instead

    This is a zig-zag diet (500 x 2 days and maintenance x 5 days).

OPs average (over a week's time) would be 1,235.....similar to 1200 daily.

OP is interested in very low calorie diets........5:2 isn't one of those (unless she's doing it wrong).

Surprise this didn't get erased like all the others. No one here will recommend eating under 1200 as mfp does not condone this or threads supporting vlcd as it is against the rules...just so you know.

I'm 5'2, started this process end of June at 144 pounds and am down to 127. I eat about 1400. Plus exercise calories. There is NO NEED to starve your body. No need to risk malnutrition, hair loss, organ failure, muscle loss.

The fact that it is "against the rules" does not mean that no one would recommend doing so IF IT WERE WARRANTED. Or at least hint that way.

But NO ONE is doing so.
And there are NO HINTS that way either.

Because... it is a BAD IDEA; not because MFP doesn't allow it.

800 calories is below the recommended standard. My page indicates 1000 is lowest that's safe. This message board has higher standard. Why the discrepancy, not sure.

You can talk about wacky food plans, though. Lol

OP - don't even consider eating only 800 calories a day.

I'm now 53 and never, ever went below the 1200 mark to lose a ton more weight than you are trying to lose.

Do yourself a favour and listen to the good people here trying to steer you away from crash dieting, hair loss, burn-out, organ failure....etc etc.

Read the recommended stickies use your brain and be careful to not buy into the ridiculous promises and quick fixes.

    Can i eat 800 calories in a day...i m 5"1 and weight is 62kg...

I almost ate that much for breakfast. Eat that little and you're bound to relapse pretty quickly. Nobody can live off that for an extended period of time.

I once saw a documentary and a dietitian told a girl that your body doesn't loose weight of youre eating less than a thousand calories so perhaps you should up it just incase

Good news for those starving kids in Africa I guess...

I'm 5ft 3" and eat 600 calories a day. I maintain weight at 800 calories. I've done this for 3 years now, no health problems!

Wowzas! Do you move your body during the day? I think I'd fall down if I only ate 600, 800 or even a thousand calories! I bought a digital food scale a couple of weeks ago and was literally SHOCKED at the difference in what I thought something weighed, and it's actual weight. Could this be happening with you?

+1 about knowing whether you use a food scale and are actually eating only this amount.

I cannot agree that you are experiencing no health problems.....you just may not be aware of them....yet.
