Walking With a Load

Hey guys,
So I walk to work every other day and was wondering if assignment 20 lbs to my backpack would burn more calories than walking normally?
I'm used to carrying heavier loads for longer distances as I've worked as a PA on a few video shoots and the gear is fairly heavy (camera itself weighs around 30lbs, then there's lighting, audio, etc. you get the point).
Yay or nay?

Awesome, every little bit counts.0 -
Just be careful, I ruck a lot and if the pack you are using is not well put together and packed properly if can cause some discomfort. Other than that, have fun.0

Yeah it was pretty painful but I actually feel like I maximized the time spent walking to work once I finally got here.0 -
Yes!!! Walking with a load practically doubles my calorie burn when I'm walking with a load close to 25%-30% of my body weight. I backpack and do training hikes with weight frequently. It's great! But yeah, get a proper pack or your're risking back injury.0

Fasho man, it would also help if you walked at a pretty fast pace. We'd have our "ruck marches" in the army with upto 60 lbs of gear..it sucked but even with 20 lbs, you'd still get a good burn.0

Yeah, it will add about 30 calories per hour.0
