My Aha Moment

I had an Aha moment this week. One of my biggest obstacles is that I let what I think other people think about me negatively affect the way I feel about myself. I have Vitiligo and really bad varicose veins (in addition to being obese). In the past, I would cover up the worse parts when I was at the beach/pool/etc. Last Sunday I was at the beach and getting ready for a walk. I put on my really long shorts and a t-shirt, then something clicked and I asked myself "why"?? Nobody is going to care what you look like. I took off the extra clothes and took a long walk on the beach in my swimsuit. It felt so good to have the sun on my skin and I was truly happy. I have been happier this week than I have been in a long time. I think it has everything to do with my aha moment and the fact that realized that nobody really cares how I look and if they do, it is their problem not mine. Sometimes we are the biggest deterrents to our happiness. If you are not happy at the moment, ask yourself why? What is holding you back and is there anything you can do about it?

Great attitude! I hope the rest of your week is positive!

I read a post yesterday that made me think a little more about my insecurities... "people in places such as the beach or gym are generally more worried about how they look than how you look".

I have horrible varicose/spider veins too and can totally relate! Since they appeared after my last pregnancy 5+ years ago I've worn pants or capris and if in a swimsuit I'd wear a long skirt until the moment I jumped into the water. This is the first summer I've worn shorts and it feels great! I was pretty self conscious at first, so I bought some self tanner lotion lol. That toned them down a bit and got me through until I got some sun and a tan :) Funny thing is, no one has said anything about my veins, but everyone keeps complimenting my shorts lol.
