Nighttime exercise and restless sleep

Every time I do cardio/aerobics "late" in the evening (after 6pm) I have a horrible night sleep. I sleep but it is not a deep sleep and I wake up throughout the night 30+ times. I know the answer is then don't exercise so late. I avoid it as much as I can but some days it is the only choice or I don't get in a workout. I could just do yoga as that does not seem to bother me but then the schedule of running every other day combined with cardio and weights the other days gets out of wack. Does this happen to anyone else?

Went to gym at 6 last night. Couldn't fall asleep till midnight. I get up at 5, so I'm typically knocked out by 10.0

Have you tried cooling down with a yoga routine after the evening cardio...I find that extremely helpful...maybe also some sleepytime tea just before bed.0

I was going to suggest the tea also. Also, if it only happens every once in a while that you have to workout later than normal, maybe just focus on strength training those times if it is cardio that makes your sleep miserable. Good luck.0

Yes, it happens to me too. I get so hyped up and too wound up to sleep until way after midnight.0

Yoga and tea sound like something to try. Hopefully I won't have to try it this week but if I do I will try it. Thanks, I hate what I become without sleep. But if it meant my body was burning fat, I could take a few nights without for the better cause... LOL0

Your weightloss should come from having a good diet. Sleep also can play a part in weightloss.
Sleep is super important for so many things, don't sacrefice it for exercise.0
