Stress

I have been recently diagnosed with DCIS, a non invasive (so far) type of breast cancer. I am waiting for MRI and genetic testing results to see if I can have a lumpectomy and radiation or if I will need a mastectomy. The stress is really getting to me. I am doing so well on the low carb diet my doctor wants me on, but there are times I want to eat whatever I can get and other times I don't want to eat anything. I am careful about keeping snack foods out of my house (I live alone) so I can't have a high carb or high calorie binge. What I do when I feel the need for something is to eat peanut butter. Too much of it. I am still below my calories for the day, but go over on fat. I only have 8 more lbs. to lose, but I need to stick strictly to my diet in order to do so. I allow myself one weekend dinner to eat whatever I want. I am only 5'1" tall and 68 years old. I am taking the weight off slowly, but this diagnosis has thrown everything off balance. Has anyone else had major stress come into their lives and, if so, how did you handle your eating habits?
