Hello All,
Please can anyone advise me whether it is best to use a cycle at low resistance for a long time or a higher resistance for a shorter length of time? TIA.

For weight loss you need a calorie deficit. Yes you can burn some calories and increase fitness levels using an indoor bike. You need to elevate your heart rate to get any benefit. How you get there is up to you.

I spin every day. I find that classes that are heavy on the hill side (lots of resistance) tend to get my heart rate higher.

Weight loss happens in the kitchen, exercise is for fitness (and studies have shown that people who exercise regularly are more likely to keep the weight off in the long term).

Personally, depending on how frequently you plan on riding, I'd alternate between the two (of course, depending on what your current fitness level allows).....it's like running, the long slow runs build endurance, the shorter faster ones speed.

One of the great things about riding is that you can, if you wish, ride every day.
