If I complete a 2 day water fast after binging, will I still gain weight afterwards?

Let's say I ate 4000 calories today, would I be able to reverse the damage by fasting for 48 hours? Will I still gain weight?

Most likely wouldn't be any damage. Log it and move on.0

This. Tomorrow is a new day.0 -
It doesn't work like that.
Will you gain scale weight? Probably.
Will it be fat? 99% chance the answer is no.
Is water fasting for 48 hours a good idea?
Scale weight is a combination of things. It includes water retention, food that is being digested, fat, lean body mass, and things that haven't been released yet. Eat more food then normal and you will experience water retention from excess sodium plus some weight for the extra food in your digestive track.
So for an example why it's unlikely that any of your gain will be fat. We can use my information for this since you didn't provide yours.
Maintain: 2300
0.5 lbs per week = 250 calorie deficit per day = 1750 calorie deficit per week
1 lb per week = 500 calorie deficit per day = 3500 calorie deficit per week
1.5 lbs per week = 750 calorie deficit per day = 5250 calorie deficit per week
2 lbs per week = 1000 calorie deficit per day = 7000 calorie deficit per week
So lets say I ate 4000 calories one day, but stuck to my goal the rest of the week:
0.5 lbs per week = over maintaining by 1700 calories for the day = 50 calorie deficit that week (basically maintain this week)
1 lb per week = over maintaining by 1700 calories for the day = 1800 calorie deficit that week (approx 0.5 lb loss)
1.5 lbs per week = over maintaining by 1700 calories for the day = 3550 calorie deficit that week (approx 1 lb loss)
2 lbs per week = over maintaining by 1700 calories for the day = 5300 calorie deficit that week (approx 1.5 lb loss)
In none of these scenarios did 1 day at 4000 calories equal fat gain for me. The only time I can see maybe doing damage control is if your maintaining and then I'd just suggest dropping to 0.5 lb per week loss for a few days.
Water fasting for 48 hours is likely to lead to a binge. I can see this creating a binge eating cycle and over time possibly leading to an ED. So my answer for this is no. Just no. If you want to do something throw in an extra workout or go for a walk.0 -
Honestly, the 48 hour water fast will affect your body (and your mind/sanity) more than the 4000 calorie day. Log it, find ways to prevent it from occurring again, and move on. You might see a jump in the scale for a few days due to water weight (especially if the high-calorie day was high in sodium and/or more carbs than normal), but if you're shooting for a 1 pound per week loss, you will probably maintain your weight for the week (or lose around .25-.5 pounds depending on what your maintenance is).0

Sounds like a fast track to seriously disordered eating to me.0

I ate cookies last night after sticking to absolutely quality nutritious food for 6 weeks. Why? Heck, they were there. lol
But I remember one lesson from the past when I was dieting. "It's only food."
So I really avoid the self-blame routine or any action that might feel as though I am punishing with food. I'll tell you why, too. That type of mindset leads to rewarding with food.
Oh, worked hard today. I deserve a food treat! No, No, No......say no to insane thinking patterns.0
