Mum Says I Need to Lose Weight

Hey guys. I've been using MFP for about a year, initially using it to see if I'm getting enough nutrients. I don't care too much about my weight. According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, I have a BMI of 20.0, which is on the higher end of normal.
My mum, on the other hand, keeps implying that I am a fatty fatty fatso. She has done this for at least three years, usually in regards to my stomach. It does seem to stick out a bit. I have told her off about the weight before, but she won't listen. Apparently she's forgotten the years I was on meal supplements because I didn't eat like a normal human.
I wouldn't mind losing weight, though it's far from a primary motivator. Honestly, I'd rather just be healthy.

Then ignore her. If you're happy the way you are, then keep doing what you're doing.0

Mom's are annoying. I know, I am one, and have to remember to stop giving my adult daughters' unwanted advice. Speaking of...perhaps a good goal for you would be body recomposition. Just a thought.0

Body recomposition?0 -
Strength training. Don't lose weight, increase muscle and decrease fat. No calorie restriction needed (or wanted for that matter). Makes any body more beautiful, in my humble opinion.0

I'm shocked that no one has pointed this out... a BMI of 20 is actually at the low end of normal. Normal range is 18.5 to 25, so the mid point of normal would be just over 21.5
What are your stats? At that BMI I can't imagine trying to lose. I think I would just start a progressive lifting program to add muscle mass, while eating at maintenance (recomposition)0 -
Your mum's approach is insane - please ignore her. That kind of 'taunting' isn't going to help you.
If you'd like to lose weight and 'firm up' your tummy, do it for you and you alone. This is your body and if you are happy with how you are, then embrace that. If it's health you're looking for, just by being aware of your food intake and exercising regularly to keep your heart healthy is all you need to do. Take care0 -

My mum has spent more than half her life on one diet or another and also was deeply unhappy during all these diet years. I have been fat for many years now and it never bothered me til now but she too took great pleasure in telling me how fat I was and that I needed to do something about it even though she herself is overweight. People can be very nasty just ignore the haters and keep your chin up usually it comes down to jealousy.xx0
