My Motivation Has Left Me

I need help. I'll tell a little first...

So, I started my journey a little over 2 years ago now. And as usual, lost easily in the beginning. Once the weight started becoming extra hard to remove, I changed my approach. I began more intense exercise, weights combined with cardio 4-7 days a week. Upped my caloric allowance, and watched every bite. The scale didn't move. I know, I know. But even my sizes and measurements didn't change. Of course, I grew frustrated. And there I am, still frustrated. I can't tell you the last time I got on the scale because frankly, it scares me. I'm not as diligent as I had been previously with logging. I got lazy with exercise. Usually, shopping pulls me out of my funk. But even that isn't working.

What works for you? Words of wisdom? Anyone who can commiserate?

Thank you

Weight loss is a complicated manner for some. Some people (me included) can work out a butt load for days on end and could even gain weight! Funny how that works... But even though you might not be losing weight you are definitely turning fat into muscle. Your body has to and will go through a shock phase when you start your journey. When you wake up in the morning during your shock phase your body will be like 'oh no what are you going to do to me today?!' and when you get out of the shock phase it will be like 'lets rock this today!'. You will start noticing some pounds dropping a little while after you are out of your shock phase. It doesn't hurt cutting out some unhealthy eating habits also! Hope this helps

2 years is a long time so congrats on that. I'd bite the bullet and weigh yourself and take measurements. Then start logging again. Then cut your calories by100 for a month and if no loss cut another 100. I started at 1100 cal but lost too quickly, was hungry all the time, and never plateaued and gained it all back. My exercising stayed the same before and after (jogged 2 miles 4 days as week).

Sorry you hit a plateau, they are frustrating I know. I can't really tell you what will work for you. For me it usually it means I'm underestimating the calories in something I eat, and I drop my daily intake by 100-200 calories. It can also mean I'm getting more efficient at my exercises so I can either increase duration or add something new. I've even had some success with introducing a cheat day every week or two where I am massively over calories. All I really know is you need to make some small change and you will start to see a difference again.

Plateaus andset backs are anormal part of the fitness journeny. Look for new activities that sound interesting. Start a business you're interested in, make some new friends, learn something new. turn off the tv. Do something besides obsess about yourself.
