Can someone please explain to me the concept of a calorie deficit and what it means? Thank you in advance.

The first Google return I found for "calorie deficit" explains it very well: http://straighthealth.com/pages/qna/caloriedeficit.html0

You burn a certain number of calories just by existing and doing the things you do every day. If you eat the same amount of calories that you burn, your weight stays the same. If you eat more calories than you burn, you gain weight. If you eat less calories than you burn that's eating at a "calorie deficit", and you lose weight.0
