Is the calories on my hr monitor I wear more correct than on the eliptical machine?

I would say yes, elliptical are known for their overestimation of cals burned. That said, HRs are just estimates as well, and also include maintenance cals that you would have burned anyway, and to be more accurate should be backed out before entering into MFP (usually 1-1.5 cals/min).
The more info you enter in an HRM the more accurate it would be as well. If you changed the max HR and v02 Max numbers then it will be far more accurate than an elliptical machine0
