Is walking plus diet enough?

I know I need a calorie deficit to lose weight, but I don't have weights at home and don't have time for the gym. I can usually get on the treadmill most nights. I love to run, but my joints (arthritis) have been a problem. Is walking enough to drop a few pounds along with tracking my calories? Walking at a rate of 3.5 mph.

You don't even need to walk. Just eat less.

Walking will help with not only your weight loss but your general wellbeing. I'd recommend it.

just a calorie deficit as mentioned.

If weight loss is what you are after.

Exercise can help create a bigger deficit and speed it up but it is not necessary for weight loss.

It is however necessary to ensure health and fitness...and it helps preserve muscle while losing fat (specifically resistance training) which you don't need weights for or a gym.

google you are your own gym or check out fitnessblender.com.
