Feeling the cold

Ok so I've lost nearly 30 pounds in around 12 weeks and recently I have felt very cold nearly all the time. I can compensate by wearing more clothes but even so my hands are like blocks of ice sometimes. Has anyone else had this problem and does it settle down over time as my body adjusts?

Feeling cold can be the result of being underweight or losing weight too fast. It can also be a natural result of having less body fat to insulate and adjusting to that. The poster above (Decemberist) though is underweight and has some of the indicators for an ED -- goal weight of 119 lbs. for a male, and statement that 158 lbs. is "ghastly."

I'm normal weight myself, but tend to feel cold more than other people. It is a slight benefit, as the temperature has dropped, and I've noticed my heart rate and calorie burn has increased on outdoor walks (I use a fitbit charge HR). It can also be an indicator of thyroid issues.

I wish I had that problem! I'm always baking (seriously, t-shirt outside in October) and always trying to find ways to cool down.

You aren't eating very much for a guy. Are you exercising and not logging it? If yes, log it and eat some of that back, and really try to hit that 1500 minimum each day. Your body needs fuel.

I always attributed this to my lower resting heart rate. With my loss of only 13 lbs, I had this issue when I normally ran warm (my resting heart rate used to be high 80's prior to needing to lose the weight).

If I drink cold water in the office, I am absolutely freezing. Since my RHR dropped from regularly working out (now I have a more normal RHR of somewhere in the 60's), I can't seem to get warmed up in the office anymore.

I feel the cold really badly since losing 70 lbs. seriously I have my own hypothermia blanket in the office, and I have gloves everywhere, and swimming pools are a danger area for me!! It's worth getting a check up just to be on the safe side, but for some of us it's just a side effect of weight loss and u learn to live with it, eg gloves, hand warmers etc.

Interesting point, @wkwebby . My resting heart rate has steadily dropped as I improved my cardiovacular health (running).
