Best step?

I want to buy a step (like for step aerobics). I'm wondering if the thrift store will legitimately be the best place to get a high-quality old-school 90s step. Do big box stores sell them anymore?

The only step I've ever seen in a big box store (Wal-Mart) is Gold's Gym. The price was right $27. Still a good price on-line....maybe have it delivered to the store (free?) if your store doesn't have it.

Anyway, old school steps "Club Steps" will set you back at least $100 is you want a full size one, with 2 sets of risers. These are longer (and wider) than most steps you find. These used to be pink & teal.

My Golds Gym (Stamina Step) is not as long (side to side). It only has 1 set of risers (6" tall)....not 8". But it is wider (front to back) than many other "budget" steps. The extra width means I don't have to be as careful with my foot placement. I'm over 50 and didn't need the challenge of a second riser (knees).

Thrift Stores, Play it Again Sports, Craigs List..... are definitely good places to find a full size steps. The full size models are nice to use for strength training workouts too.

Thrift store is a great idea. As long as it doesn't slip, it's a good step. I can't remember seeing one in a store in years, though admittedly I haven't looked. I've had mine since the 90's and still use it. I have no idea of the brand, but I guarantee it was cheap. It's pink, has 4 height settings, is 3' wide and 2' deep. I sometimes use it as a weight bench too. ::laugh::
