Protein Shake as a partial Meal replacement. Whats your take on this?

I have been taking Pure Protein shakes, 20 grams per scoop and one scoop per breakfast with other food like grilled chicken breast sandwich and so on. Does anyone else do this or think its good or bad?

I have a protein shake for breakfast most days, and sometimes a second in the afternoon if my protein is still low. It works for me. I personally find them too filling to eat alongside a meal, but I don't see any reason not to.

I much prefer food. I get hungry shortly after I have a protein shake.

It's not really good or bad.

    Thanks.
That's why I add it to a small meal. Usually boneless chicken breast on a wheat bun.

Sure. With my stats, I struggle to get enough protein in to support my strength training and stay to 1500 calories without getting burned out on just lean meats and veggies, so I usually supplement with a protein shake or bar. I tend to prefer bars because they fill me up more, but it's purely a personal preference for me.

I use an IdealShape shake in the morning (1 scoop vanilla, 1 cup OJ, 1 banana, sprinkle of cinimon) blended. Keeps me satisfied till lunch and supplies many of the needed nutrients. At lunch I use another IdealShape shake mixed with water. (Hot water from the office water cooler (I love that contridiction) makes it taste better especially since the weather is getting cooler.) Makes lunch cheaper, also. An apple something else for a snack and a reasonalbe dinner is my plan.

Just my thoughts, activities and plans. Carry on.

Not a fan of protein shakes or powders. I prefer whole foods. Real food that you eat. So, for me, those protein powders are out.

I feel ya. I am not a fan but I am doing what I feel is best to get to my fitness goal. Thanks for the reply.
Thank you to all of you for the replies.
I may move to bars as I am hearing they are more feeling. And no more mixing! But they cost more. :-(

I have a protrin shake as a snack nearly every day. Sometimes as part of breakfast is in NOT having much other protein, such as cereal or oatmeal. I wouldn't use it as a partial meal replacement if the rest of the meal had substantial protein such a chicken breast. It just wouldn't make sense to me. But there's nothing "wrong" with doing that. Just make sure you're eating enough fruit & veggies too.

Are you low on protein? Ideally, one should aim for .8 to 1g per lb of lean body mass.... anything in excess is not going to yield a benefit.

It is really personal preference -- I prefer to eat whole foods rather than a drink. The protein shakes just do not keep me satisfied. I was occasionally eating a protein bar if there was no other choice, but I've recently switched up my gym days which puts me at the gym at 5 AM two days a week. I've resorted to a protein bar on those two mornings but still not crazy about them either and I'm looking for a good alternative to the bars. There's too much sodium in them, other additives, and they're too expensive in my opinion. I'm old, so I have to watch all that stuff!
