Good day :) Need some advice. My ab routine is getting pretty boring. What's the best workouts to burn belly fat? Besides crunches, leg raises and twists.

Workouts don't burn belly fat. Abdominal exercises will strengthen your core, but you cannot target fat loss. Continue to workout, all body parts, and eat at a deficit, and eventually you will lose fat around your middle.

Planks are awesome core exercises. Also, doing compound lifts like bench, squat, deadlift, etc. require your core to be engaged and can help strengthen it as well. Fitnessblender has some good core workouts. Blogilates has some as well. Yoga with Adriene and Do Yoga with Me also have some yoga with a core focus.

#1 - Eat at a deficit. #2 - Build muscle, not just in your core, but everywhere. Build muscle, muscle burns calories to stay alive. Your biggest muscle groups are in your legs. I know it sounds odd, but you will do more to burn that fat in your midsection by working your legs, because muscle doesn't care where the fat is when it burns that fat to survive.

If you aren't eating at a deficit and are not building muscle, you will have some awesome abs (they'll just be covered by a nice layer of fat).

    Yes to everything above.

Also not only planks but side planks and plank push ups, oblique crunches (you can do these standing up), crunch with a press (I use a 10lbs dumbbell)

As others here have said, eat at a deficit to lose weight, and work out so that the weight you lose is mostly fat. Your body will burn it where it wants.... :(

If you build up your abs before you lose any extra fat you carry there, you may not get quite the results you're looking for.

For core work out specifically, i have only recently started doing Yoga, offered for free at a local park. I have practiced Judo, a kind of wrestling, for years. Yoga is making me sore in a bunch of muscles that Judo never quite got to.... I'd recommend you look for a Yoga class that suits your schedule and give it a shot.
  • Thank you guys so much for the replies! Was definitely helpful :) I already eat at a deficit and started building muscle everywhere else. I guess the midsection will take more time to be completely gone...like more than these 3 longg months
