Hello! I received my Fitbit Charge HR yesterday! Although I will not start doing challenges until the weekend, feel free to add me if you have one! Also, how accurate is your Fibit? Every small movement I make with my wrist counts as a step, does this adjust after a while of using it?

Thank you all!!

Only had mine for a little over a week, but loving it so far. Have fun with it, experiment & see what it does, think it's a great tool & motivator too - but in the end, it's just another "estimator" and the real results are shown on the scale, with a tape measure, in the mirror, and how you feel.0

Congrats! I've had my FitBit Surge for about a year. It only comes off when I'm in the shower.FoxTrot2k15 wrote: »Although I will not start doing challenges until the weekend, feel free to add me if you have one!

Extremely accurate. Ive tested it over fixed distances, fixed number of steps, etc. and it is within 1%. My girlfriend's identical Surge is not nearly as accurate.FoxTrot2k15 wrote: »Every small movement I make with my wrist counts as a step, does this adjust after a while of using it?
Im unaware of adjustability. There is an entire Fitbit group on MFP who might know more.

Wow...that is good to hear. I guess it takes adjusting to it! I like it already, too. Just wasn't sure if I was the only one who had the same problem0

Hi
I've had my Charge HR since Sunday and have only have it off when in the shower. I used to use a Polar Ft4 to monitor my calories burned during exercise, according to that during a Metafit class I would burn about 10 calories a minute, with my Fitbit I'm only getting 5 calories a minute. At the end of the day though the amount of calories I've burned seems okay. I'm going to give it a couple of weeks and see how it goes!0 -
What's fitbit all about and is it like the other wrist watch thing to monitor heart rate?

Wear it on your non-dominant hand, but tell it you're wearing it on your dominant one. That should take away the few "extras" you'll earn if you're a big hand waver when you talk.0 -

Interesting on the differences. I used to use a Garmin 405 with chest strap. Once I got the Fitbit, wore both to test & compare. Distance, Avg HR, Instanteous HR were all comparable, but the FitBit's calculation for expended calories was about 3.5 times as much as the Garmin. Not sure how each calculates it, but they certainly did not agree!0 -
I have the FitBit Charge HR. I like it, but it is not very accurate for high impact workouts. My Bodymedia (oh how I miss that) always showed I would burn 9-11 calories per minute during Turbo Fire, Fitbit shows 5-6. It actually tells me I burn more calories walking than kickboxing!
Aside from that, it's a fun tool/toy for losing weight0 -
i put mine on my non dominant hand and set it as dominant hand. . makes it less sensitive that way.0

Oh and I almost forgot...I LOVE MY FITBIT I've had mine 2 years and have found it to be accurate at calculating my total calories each day. It really inspires me to get up and moving more and more. When I started I hit my 10k goal every day and now I average around 17k It helped get me to goal and stay there - have been maintaining my goal weight for over 2 years now0 -
Add me I have a surge and thinking of getting a fitbit hr dch1028@live.com0

Hi. I don't use Fitbit but Garmin. Nvrmind the principle is the same. U will always get extra steps when driving car or washing ur teeth, but that amount of steps is irrelevant in amount of 10k steps per day if you want healthy life or even 15k if u want to loose weight.0

@RunRutheeRun thank you for that! Lol and that is great news!0

Be warned, you don't get the full Fitbit app unless you pay for premium service and you don't find that out until after you have installed it. It's still seems pretty good though but if you want detail, it may disappoint, especially on sleep.0

Yes indeed; wouldn't mind so much but for not being forewarned - it's a good band though, it wouldn't hurt them to be straight up about the deal - grrrrrrr
