Oatmeal with pumpkin. It will taste bad?

I cannot find a recipe w/ pumpkin that does not add sugar or artificial sweetener.
So, I am going to make quick oats with skim milk and 1/4 cup of canned pumpkin puree.
It is going to taste awful.
I cannot believe that every single recipe requires sugar or fake sugar.
Some even require 1/2 cup of oil - really? That's supposed to be healthy?
I am trying to learn to live without added sugars - my choice - no more discussion.
Just for the next 3 months at least.

I make overnight pumpkin pie oats and its good. I make it with:
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1 5.3 oz Dannon Lite & Fit Greek vanilla yogurt
1-2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
about 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
1 tablespoon chia
dash of pumpkin pie spice
I put this all in a mason jar, give it a good shake and in the morning I will add a little more of the almond milk because I dont like it too thick. But it tastes amazing0 -
Perhaps oatmeal, unsweetened apple juice (instead of water) and pumpkin puree. That way you still get some sweetness. Spices will help too, but if you've ever tasted plain pumpkin puree....it's like squash.
You might look for savory oatmeal recipes instead.
Nothing wrong with dietary fat. My preference would be pecans or walnuts though (yum).
I'm fine with moderate sugar (and moderate fake sugar)....I won't be sugar free for the rest of my life (anyway)....just sayin'
Recipe above sounds good.....but Dannon Light has fake sugar.0 -

I agree with the apple sauce or apple juice for sweetness. Don't forget a little "pumpkin spice" (cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg and/or a pinch of cloves).
The pumpkin protein pancakes I made today has oatmeal flour and pumpkin purée. I used Stevia for sweetness.0 -

You could use powdered or liquid stevia to replace the sugar if you like a hint of sweetness. It's a natural, not artificial sweetener. But be careful because a little goes a long way.0

Oh, and vanilla protein powder is also good (about 1/2 scoop). But you have to add it in the bowl after the oatmeal is cooked.
And if you add some dried cranberries and chopped walnuts, it's even better.0 -
I'm sure it would taste great, but I would definitely not add 1/2 cup of oil!

If you are set against any sweetener, it will not be sweet. The pumpkin pie spice is a good suggestion. You may want to rethink your decision for no added sweetener (ie: sugar, brown sugar, stevia, honey, maple syrup) you would not need a lot and there really isn't that many calories if you use sparingly. As far as the oil goes, it is definitely not an ingredient I have ever used in oatmeal. IMHO, totally unnecessary.0
