Hip stiffness after bench press?

Hi guys,
I've been heavy lifting for about 12 months now. In the last couple of weeks I've been focusing more on my bench press. I've been reading up on technique etc and realise now that it is a full body exercise in that I need to squeeze my glutes and drive it up through my lower body. In doing this I've noticed that the day after I have stiffness in my hips (like a doms feeling really) which is leaving me unable to squat - it isn't painful at all, its just stiffness.
Has anyone else had this hip stifness after benching? I wasn't expecting it but guess I'm doing something right as I'm making progress!
Thanks x

Hip stiffness? Can't say I have. Cramped up lats, cramped hamstrings yes. Especially after heavy singles. Are you warming up your hips, or just expecting them to do the work cold?

if you are using those muscles that way for the first time, yeah you'll get sore, congrats on learning to use leg drive on the bench.

Nope. It's possible your hip flexors are tight from something else though too. Are you doing dynamic warmup up, foam rolling, warm up sets before you squat?
